Shit like what happened last night and tonight is the type of stuff that can send a team right into the wrong direction~ south. Let's hope that Theo & Tito get everybody settled down and keep everyone's head screwed on straight. Still wondering what happened between Manny & Youk and if the 2nd inning brawl had anything to do with it.
Going back to to Coco's steal in the 6th inning the night before~ you can clearly see in the replay that Bartlett's knee was blocking the bag as Coco was approaching. That's the stick that went up Coco's butt and his motivation for the late slide 2 innings later. He called it 'shady.' What does the rule book have to say about blocking the bag like that during an attempted steal?

Re: Coco & the Rays Brawl
Fri, June 6, 2008 - 6:31 AMAre you kidding me? A team performing as lackluster as the Sox have? This is the kind of thing can wake them. This beef goes back to the days when pinella was managing and telling his pitchers to throw at Sox -

Fri, June 6, 2008 - 9:38 AMLet's hope that's the case. But seeing Youk & Manny jawin' was a bit unsettling, though, ykwim?
Coco's becoming a tumor. It seemed like he had been handling his 2008 role with a bit of dignity up until 2 nights ago. And now his trade value has just dropped off the charts. For starters, no one in the AL East will want him, that's for sure. -

Re: Coco & the Rays Brawl
Sun, June 8, 2008 - 10:23 AMHis batting average is reducing his trade value. If he had been fighting someone in the dug out I would agree with you but guys showing a little fire isnt going to hurt. Considering the plays he makes in the out field I dont think he has reduced his trade value at all -

Re: Coco & the Rays Brawl
Sun, June 8, 2008 - 10:37 AMI dunno. I think teams are takin' a closer look at other factors besides just the player's numbers. I mean, who wants a guy who stirs shit, a guy who's gonna be gettin' tossed and suspended? This isn't hockey. -

This is the maximum depth. Additional responses will not be threaded.
Re: Coco & the Rays Brawl
Sun, June 8, 2008 - 10:52 AMBounds of reason, if this were a consistant problem I would say you were right. Prime example of the point you are making is a guy like milton bradley but how often have we seen coco in these sittuations. Also you have to take into acount tat the Rays second baseman was an ass for dropping a knee on cocos bad thumb so coco had every right to come in hard on him later. I have to back Coco on this one
